Any company manufacturing plates can call their own "Gourmet Plates" but the fact is: What justifies that name? Nothing and there is no requirement for using that name; it is not like Cognac "Appellation d'origine contrôlée" or anything like that.

The fact is: I can call HotSmart Hot Plates Gourmet Plates and justify it, but nobody can call their plates HotSmart because they are cold and they are not smart (They do not have a delay action to avoid overcooking or overheating for instance; please see the specs.).

Innovation in plates has meant for centuries only different colors, patterns, styles, shapes (Round, square, triangular heart shaped, Mickey Mouse, you name it, etc.); but no matter what the style, all plates get your food cold, even if you preheat them they get cold in about 5 minutes -along with the food- and they are very difficult to handle while hot.

A Google search for Gourmet plates turned out 2, 070,000 results in 0.24 seconds; must we conclude that all plates are Gourmet plates? 

My own conclusion is:  When talking about plates the term Gourmet does not mean anything and when talking about food the word gourmet is  losing its meaning very fast: Have you heard about Gourmet food for dogs?

Gourmet, Foodie, etc. has to do with enjoying food, wine and I would add company (Conversation) , 

My Question is: in what way can a cold plate (No matter what shape,style or color it is)  that gets your food cold, I repeat: in what way can a cold plate contribute  to enjoyment? Gourmet Plates? I don't think so: HotSmarts are the only real Gourmet Plates. They remain hot for more than half hour to keep your food warm, can be handled safely with the bare hands and need only one minute preheating in the microwave oven.  HotSmart Gourmet Plates contribute to the enjoyment of your food and even your conversation; you cannot converse when you are eating on a plate that even if it is preheated gets cold in 5 minutes.
